CES 2026: Intel CEO Endorses GMKtec EVO-T2, Global Media Spotlight

by Official GMKtec 17 Jan 2026 0 Comments

Las Vegas, January 6, 2026 — CES 2026, the world’s premier consumer electronics show, officially opened today in Las Vegas. GMKtec, a global pioneer in desktop AI supercomputing, made a powerful statement with the global debut of its flagship product, the EVO-T2 — the world’s first consumer mini PC built on Intel’s cutting-edge 18A process technology.

During the event, GMKtec engaged in in-depth interviews with leading global media outlets, including:

  • Lon TV, a well-known U.S. tech YouTuber
  • Tweakers, the Netherlands’ most authoritative IT media platform
  • PC WATCH, one of Japan’s most influential technology publications

These interviews centered on a milestone moment for the industry: Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan personally signing and endorsing the EVO-T2 prototype, while exploring the technological breakthroughs, ecosystem collaboration, and the accelerating AI transformation of the mini PC category.

A Rare Industry Endorsement from Intel’s CEO

As one of the highlights of CES 2026, Mr. Lip-Bu Tan personally experienced the EVO-T2’s performance and expressed strong recognition of its capabilities. He subsequently signed the EVO-T2 prototype on site — a rare endorsement that underscores not only GMKtec’s technological strength, but also Intel’s high regard for the deep ecosystem collaboration between the two companies.

This gesture reflects Intel’s confidence in the EVO-T2 as a reference platform for next-generation AI computing at the edge.

“What Makes EVO-T2 Worthy of Such Recognition?”

During an interview, U.S. tech YouTuber Lon TV posed a direct question:

“It’s extremely rare for the CEO of Intel to personally endorse a product. What do you believe is the core competitive advantage of the EVO-T2 that earned such recognition?”

GMKtec’s Head of Product explained that the EVO-T2’s strength lies in deep technical co-development with Intel and a precise strategic focus on the desktop AI supercomputing segment.

The EVO-T2 is powered by Intel’s flagship processor marking the culmination of its “Five Nodes in Four Years” strategy — the Intel Core Ultra X9 388H, based on the Panther Lake architecture and manufactured using Intel’s 18A (1.8 nm) process. This processor integrates two breakthrough technologies: RibbonFET gate-all-around transistors and PowerVia backside power delivery, delivering a major leap in both performance and energy efficiency.

Thanks to this platform, the EVO-T2 delivers up to 180 TOPS of local AI computing power, enabling smooth execution of large-scale AI models with tens of billions of parameters. This positions the EVO-T2 as a true “desktop AI supercomputer”, fully aligned with Intel’s strategy to democratize AI computing at the endpoint.

Bringing 18A Technology to Consumer Mini PCs

Dutch IT authority Tweakers focused on the broader industry impact, asking:

“What kind of transformation will the application of 18A process technology bring to consumer mini PCs?”

GMKtec responded that advanced manufacturing nodes were previously reserved for high-end servers or flagship smartphones. The collaboration between GMKtec and Intel marks the first time 18A technology has entered consumer desktop devices.

This milestone not only extends Moore’s Law into consumer electronics, but also signals the arrival of the second generation of desktop AI supercomputers.

“Mini PCs were once labeled as ‘underpowered,’” GMKtec noted. “With the AI computing strength enabled by 18A, the EVO-T2 goes far beyond everyday office tasks — it supports AI content creation, 3D modeling, and large-model inference. It fills the performance gap between traditional desktops and laptops, accelerating the mini PC’s transition from a niche product to a mainstream computing platform.”

Designed for Global Users: Performance, Expansion, and Portability

Japanese media outlet PC WATCH focused on user value and market potential, asking how EVO-T2 balances performance, expandability, and portability for different regions.

GMKtec’s marketing lead explained that the EVO-T2 features comprehensive, all-around upgrades:

  • LPDDR5x high-frequency memory
  • Dual PCIe 5.0 + PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, expandable up to 16TB
  • 5G and 10G Ethernet ports, full-function USB4, and OCuLink support for external GPUs
  • Support for quad 4K display output

This configuration allows EVO-T2 to adapt effortlessly to diverse peripherals and usage scenarios worldwide.

Deep Ecosystem Collaboration with Intel

GMKtec emphasized that its partnership with Intel goes far beyond processor adoption. Intel has been deeply involved from the product definition stage onward.

As early as 2025, at Intel’s Technology Innovation & Industry Ecosystem Conference, GMKtec showcased a working EVO-T2 prototype with live demonstrations — validating the feasibility of next-generation AI desktop computing in real-world scenarios.

A Global Statement from a Chinese Hardware Innovator

At CES 2026, the EVO-T2 earned widespread praise from international media not only for its specifications, but also for the vision it represents. Through in-depth dialogue with global press, GMKtec demonstrated the innovation strength and ecosystem integration capability of Chinese hardware brands on the world stage.

As a Shenzhen-based brand with products sold in over 70 countries, GMKtec is leveraging the EVO-T2 to accelerate the global adoption of desktop AI supercomputing and usher in the next era of intelligent endpoints.

With global availability planned for Q1 2026, the EVO-T2 promises users worldwide a computing experience that is more powerful, secure, and portable, redefining what mini PCs can achieve.

The EVO-T2 also continues GMKtec’s iconic design language, balancing minimalist desktop aesthetics with thermal stability. Whether for professional creators, developers, or everyday users, it delivers an ideal balance between portability and high performance. The product has already received strong pre-order interest across multiple regions.
