GMKtec EVO-X2 Demonstrates Local AI Power at Shenzhen OpenClaw Meetup

by GMKtecOfficial 12 Mar 2026 0 Comments

On March 6, the world’s first OpenClaw & AI Hardware community meetup was successfully held at INNO100 in Shenzhen, co-organized by AGI-X, Kickstarter, and several technology communities. Centered around the theme Integrating AI Agents with Hardware Ecosystems,” the event became one of the most talked-about gatherings in the tech community recently.

Organized in just three days — a true example of “Shenzhen speed” — the meetup attracted developers, entrepreneurs, and investors from Silicon Valley, Sweden, Hong Kong, and cities across mainland China. It quickly evolved into a vibrant platform for discussing the future of AI hardware and open-source ecosystems.

As an AI hardware enthusiast, I brought along the GMKtec EVO-X2 Mini PC to this uniquely relaxed yet highly technical gathering. Throughout the event, I not only experienced the dynamic momentum of the OpenClaw open-source ecosystem, but also witnessed firsthand how this desktop AI supercomputer” challenges the long-standing perception that mini PCs cannot deliver serious performance.

Where Tech Meets Community: A Unique “Lobster & AI” Gathering

Unlike traditional tech conferences, the OpenClaw meetup used lobster as the social centerpiece, allowing deep technical discussions to unfold naturally in a relaxed and lively environment.

The event featured three core segments:

● Guest keynote sessions

● Roundtable discussions

● Live demo battles (Demo PK)

One surprise highlight came from Ji Zhaohui, Vice President of Marketing for AMD Greater China, who appeared as a special guest and introduced a local AI “Lobster Computer” concept based on the AMD 395 platform. The presentation addressed a critical industry challenge — the high token costs of running AI models in the cloudsparking lively discussion among attendees.

Developers and AI practitioners from around the world exchanged ideas on topics such as:

● OpenClaw deployment strategies

● Practical paths for edge and local AI implementation

● Optimization techniques for AI chip deployment

The Demo PK session showcased nine innovative applications built on OpenClaw, covering scenarios such as:

● Hardware interaction systems

● Smart device control

● Local large-model deployment and adaptation

Among the many advanced devices present at the meetup, the GMKtec EVO-X2 Mini PC unexpectedly became one of the most talked-about pieces of hardware.

Thanks to its compact form factor and powerful performance, many developers came over to try it themselves, deploying local AI models directly on the device. Several attendees even asked about product specifications and purchasing options on the spot.

Hands-On Experience: GMKtec EVO-X2 Delivers Both Design and Power

Positioned as a desktop AI supercomputer, the key strength of the GMKtec EVO-X2 lies in its ability to balance extreme portability with flagship-level performancea combination that proved particularly valuable in a mobile, community-driven event like this.

After extensive hands-on testing during the meetup, the EVO-X2 stood out in multiple aspects, including portability, AI performance, and system design.

1. Ultra-Portable Design for Mobile Workflows

For developers who frequently attend tech meetups or work on the move, portability is essential.

The EVO-X2 features an extremely compact chassis — about 1/20 the size of a traditional desktop PCmaking it easy to slip into a backpack or laptop bag. There’s no need to carry bulky equipment, solving the common inconvenience of transporting development hardware.

The chassis is crafted from recycled aluminum with an anodized finish, offering a premium tactile feel while also helping with heat dissipation. Its minimalist industrial design makes it stand out effortlessly on any desk or demo table.

2. Flagship AI Computing Power

The GMKtec EVO-X2 is the world’s first Mini PC powered by the AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ 395 processor, delivering remarkable computing performance.

Key specifications include:

● TSMC 4nm process

● 16 cores / 32 threads

● Boost clock up to 5.1 GHz

● 126 TOPS heterogeneous AI computing power

● 50 TOPS dedicated NPU performance

During the live OpenClaw deployment tests, the EVO-X2 demonstrated the ability to run the massive Qwen3-235B model locally, without relying on cloud connectivity.

The experience was impressive:

● Fast responses

● Smooth command execution

● Efficient file and code processing

Even more importantly, all sensitive data remains local, a major advantage for developers and organizations concerned with privacy and data security.

Notably, the EVO-X2’s AI computing capability is up to 2.2× higher than the RTX 4090 in certain AI workloads, placing it firmly at the top tier among Mini PCs and redefining expectations for compact computing devices.

3. Balanced Performance for Work and Entertainment

Mini PCs are often assumed to be suitable only for light office tasks — but the EVO-X2 proves otherwise.

It features the Radeon 8060S GPU with 40 compute units, delivering graphics performance comparable to discrete GPUs. During the meetup, attendees even tested AAA games, which ran smoothly without noticeable lag.

The system also includes several thoughtful engineering details:

● Arctic Ocean” dual-turbine cooling system

● Large triple heat-pipe thermal design

● LPDDR5X 8000MHz high-speed memory

● Dual M.2 2280 PCIe ×4 SSD slots

This hardware combination ensures fast data access, efficient model loading, and smooth multitasking, while maintaining low noise and stable temperatures even under sustained heavy workloads.

A Glimpse Into the Future of AI Hardware

The Shenzhen OpenClaw Lobster Meetup showcased not only the enormous potential of the OpenClaw open-source ecosystem, but also served as a real-world validation of the GMKtec EVO-X2’s capabilities.

More than just a Mini PC, the EVO-X2 functions as a personal AI supercomputer and private “second brain” in the era of artificial intelligence.

Whether for:

● AI developers deploying local models

● designers performing graphics rendering

● professionals running demanding applications

● or everyday users seeking powerful computing in a compact device

the EVO-X2 delivers a versatile and future-ready solution.

One meetup and one hands-on test were enough to prove it:

A Mini PC can indeed deliver flagship-level performance — and play a central role in bringing AI hardware into real-world applications.

As open-source ecosystems and AI hardware continue to converge, the GMKtec EVO-X2 desktop AI supercomputer may well become a preferred tool for developers and tech enthusiasts worldwide.
