EVO-X1 PRO BIOS Update: How to Fix Startup Freeze After Windows KB5101684

by Jason Weng 15 Aug 2026 0 comment

Some EVO-X1 PRO users may experience a startup freeze or be unable to enter Windows normally after installing Windows update KB5101684.

This is a firmware compatibility issue that may be triggered by the Windows update on a limited number of EVO-X1 PRO devices. It does not necessarily mean that the PC hardware is damaged.

GMKtec has released BIOS version EVO_X1_PRO_103_260812 to resolve this compatibility issue. Please follow the appropriate update method below.

Important: This BIOS is only for the EVO-X1 PRO. Do not install it on any other GMKtec model.

Which BIOS Update Method Should I Use?

  • If Windows starts normally, use Tutorial 1: In-OS Flash.
  • If Windows cannot start normally, use Tutorial 2: UEFI Shell Automatic Flashing.
  • If you cannot enter Windows or access the F7 boot menu, please stop and contact GMKtec Customer Support.

Before You Begin

Before updating the BIOS:

  1. Keep the EVO-X1 PRO connected to a stable power supply.
  2. Do not power off, restart, unplug or operate the device during the BIOS update.
  3. Disconnect unnecessary USB devices.
  4. Back up important files before proceeding.
  5. Download and extract the BIOS package completely before running the update.

Important BIOS Update Warnings

  • Only install this BIOS on the EVO-X1 PRO.
  • Do not interrupt the power supply during the update.
  • Do not force the device to shut down or restart.
  • Do not remove the USB drive while the BIOS is being written.
  • An interrupted or incorrect BIOS update may prevent the device from starting and could require motherboard service.

If you are unsure which update method to use, please contact GMKtec Customer Support before proceeding.
